Telophase

This rust dyeing experiment looked to me like a cell dividing, with its two new nuclei at the final step of separation. I named the quilt after this last stage of mitosis.

size : 15” x 25”

materials : 100% cotton muslin top, back and binding, Warm & White 87.5% cotton / 12.5% polypropylene batting, metallic polyester thread, 100% cotton thread

techniques : rust dyeing, dense free-motion quilting (bubble-quilted background in golden thread, outline quilting in variegated cotton thread), double-fold binding meticulously hand-stitched to the back for a smooth, tailored finish
